Well, its been QUITE a while. I thought I'd give you an update.

First as we ALL know, times are tough right now. We had to let our last two guys in the shop go paring it down to just Dad and I. For what little work we had the last couple months its meant putting in 12 hours days, 6-7 days a week. I just haven't had the energy, time, money, motivation, ect ect to work on anything. I also launched www.drsracks.com which has actually doing better than the cabinet side (after 25 years of business we had our single worst month in history in April) so that has been very time consuming.

Then I also have the 3 p90 firebird which has been the single most cursed guitar I have every worked on. It has fought tooth and nail every step of the way including having to sand the finishes off back to bare wood 3 freaking times.

THIS time though, (crosses fingers) so far so good. Had a change of heart and its now shoreline gold!

Tomorrow I'll start laying down clearcoat on it. End of the week that should be the end of clear, so probably about 2-3 weeks from now I can wet sand and assemble. I have EVERYTHING here for it now...

OH I did start a new guitar project that isn't a firebird *GASP* ... check my blog in my sig ;)

The "JR"

It was going to be Dakota Red but after 2 cans in a row being Candy Apple Red's red tinted lacquer instead of DR I grabbed a stand by can of Sonic Blue I'd been contemplating... I'm happy I did. :D

(still need to clear that TRC)

Thats it for 2 weeks, damn tuners are on back order again. OH- neat story. That pickup is a SD p90 that my wife (gf at the time) bought me about 4 years ago when I decided to build my first guitar. That guitar is still sitting... for whatever reason I haven't brought myself to finish it yet but it did motivate me to start building more seriously 2 years ago. It'll be nice to put it to use finally!
