Re-stringing my 'bird

Re-stringing my 'bird

Postby XBic on Thu Mar 19, 2009 7:40 am

Hey guys,

As I said in my intro moments ago, I am a proud new owner of a 2001 FB V, and it is totally stock.

My comments/questions:
* I have already attempted to restring the thing, with average results. The wound strings obviously went on pretty easily, but I had a bad time w/ the 3 unwounds. I think that I finally figured out that I have to wind the string around the post and then fold the end around itself to keep it from slipping back through the post. Is this correct? Is there a better way?

* Also, what is the correct way to turn the keys for tightening/loosening? Right now (the way it came to me), is clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen. Is this correct?

I may think of more questions, but for now this is what first in my mind.

Thanks!

Barry

If you make sure the string pull is straight, the you've got it right. as to the wrap, I always put the first wrap OVER the pertruding string & the reast under. This should "squeeze" the string as it tightens. It works for me!
