New Firebird Owner

New Firebird Owner

Postby Big Jim on Sun Aug 09, 2009 9:51 am

Hello, My name is Jim and I just recently purchased a Firebird V in classic white. I was out shopping for a Les paul in the $1500 to $2500 range when I stumbled upon the Bird. For my sound and playing style, the Firebird just simply crushed all the Pauls.Even my son ( who is a LP player) agreed. So long story short it came home with me and I couldn't be happier with it. I pretty much just play at home, or with buddies, but I have done some session work with a local artist recently. I also like to build amps, and I am known on the Metro Amp forum as Big Jim. I recently built a JTM 45 clone with NOS glass and the amp is awesome. I have also dabbled in guitar building as well...I can see a Firebird build on the horizon. 8-) Anyway, I look forward to discussing all thing Firebird on this forum. I will post some pics of the new axe soon. Jim

Cool! Glad to have you Jim! As you look around, you'll see that we are growing, both in membership & participation. As for building Birds...Doug's the man, for sure.
FWIW, my first FB HAD to be a white one! That started the ball rollin'...

Hi Jim!
I had a similar experience....I never even knew I wanted a Firebird until I played one.....It blew my mind (and kills all the les pauls I've played).

I think for the $$$ it's one of the best things Gibson is currently producing. I've got the white V too!
