I got a new bridge pick up for my Fbird.

Hmmm...I've never found the KAs to sound like full-size buckers myself. I've just found them a bit too "polite"& lacking in character. For production minis, I really like the Duncan SM-1s, with a cover change. They're pretty reasonable used. I think the SM-1's sound a lot like the vintage Gibsons in my older Birds, with just a touch more oomph.
There are a lot of minis out there to try, some of them for low $$ too! Enjoy your search!

That the FB with KAs sounded like my SG was a big surprise. I think I will put my stock pickups back in to have different sounds available.

I have a GFS Fat Alnico V mini laying around that I bought to put in the neck pos. of a Nashville Tele that had a "swimming pool" route. Once installed it was a pretty good rock guitar, but alas, the min pup kind of robbed it of it's unique Tele tone.
I have to agree with 77 Custom that the GFS has a dark tone. I really didn't care too much for it as a Tele neck position pup.
When I tried to sell the Tele w/ the GFS mini on C.L.,I got very little interest, so I reinstalled the stock guard w/ the std Tele pup in the neck and a Strat in the middle and she sold in 3 days.
But he's peaked my interest and I think I'll throw the GFS in the F.B. bridge to see how I like it.
Also Sleeping Tiger: Can your hated SD mini covers be replaced w/ std Gibson style mini pup covers the 6 pole screw holes on one side, or is the SD mini set up under the hood different w/ no pole screws?

No the SD mini is a Firebird style with magnets in the center of the coils & no screws, so I'd suggest Allparts or other plain covers for it. Just don't forget to put a couple of small beads of silicone on the coils if your not going to wax pot it. It will prevent microphonic feedback, aka "SQUEEEEL!".
